Hey, Pig

This project started as a simple tribute to a recurring pig theme (lyrically and literally) in 90's post-punk & industrial music. The theme, although intentionally subjective, was appropriate in expressing what this style of music embodied: internal and external malaise, loathing, and contempt.

Having felt unsatisfied simply replicating this theme, I leaned on the lesser-known scientific connections between humans and pigs, notwithstanding our negative personification of them. Most interestingly, pigs and humans have nearly identical skin types (as opposed to humans and apes) and skin from pigs is commonly used for skin grafting on burn victims in human subjects. Source

Elements of burned materials and actual pig skin (locally/humanely sourced) were used to convey these ideas.
